Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, calling its so-called “Triple Engine” government — at the Centre, in the state, and in urban local bodies — a complete failure.
Yadav criticized the ruling party over the worsening civic conditions during the monsoon season, citing waterlogging, overflowing drains, damaged roads, and accumulation of garbage across cities in Uttar Pradesh.
In a strongly worded statement, he said, “The BJP’s corruption and negligence have become life-threatening for the people. Their governance has failed to provide even basic civic amenities.”
Highlighting the state of affairs in urban areas, Yadav stated, “As soon as the rains began, cities turned into messes. Drains are overflowing, roads are filled with potholes, sewer lines are choked, and stagnant water is visible everywhere.” He further claimed that drainage systems have collapsed and that garbage is piling up across cities, exposing the inefficiency of the administration.
He accused the BJP of ruling municipal corporations for years but failing to deliver even basic cleanliness and infrastructure. “From Kashi to Gorakhpur, Lucknow to Kanpur, and Jhansi — the situation is the same. Despite being in power for years, BJP-ruled municipal bodies are unable to provide fundamental services. The budgets for drain cleaning are being looted, and cleaning operations are mere formalities,” he alleged.
Yadav warned that the public is bearing the brunt of the government’s mismanagement during the rainy season. “The government must take the monsoon seriously. The BJP’s tall claims about smart cities, pothole-free roads, and basic public services have all collapsed. In the last nine years, they have done no real work — all their development is only on paper,” he remarked.
He also accused the BJP of spreading hatred instead of working for the people’s welfare and claimed that the party’s true face is now exposed before the public. Concluding his statement, Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence that the people of Uttar Pradesh will permanently oust the BJP in the 2027 Assembly elections.
